Continue to learn about ethical principles of yoga (this time we focus on Niyamas) in an environment where compassion for oneself and each other remains the undercurrent of practice. Pay closer attention to the signals your body is sending and learn how to respond mindfully and deliberately. Classes in this five week series continue to be interactive, though there is a greater emphasis on the flow of movement. Teacher and student assists will be introduced. Each class of the series will continue to build on the one before, with the goal of deepening your understanding of warm-ups, core standing postures, forward folds, backbends, twists, and hip openers. We will begin to introduce inversions and will work on practices that will help you build confidence as you continue your yoga journey. You will continue to develop greater strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, clarity of mind, depth of awareness and equanimity, on and off the mat.
